Ο Τζάρμους συγκεντρώνει ένα εντυπωσιακό καστ (Κέιτ Μπλάνσετ, Άνταμ Ντράιβερ, Τομ Γουέιτς, Σαρλότ Ράμπλινγκ) και αφηγείται τρεις αυτοτελείς ιστορίες για τη σχέση γονιών και παιδιών με το χαρακτηριστικό υπόγειο χιούμορ του, σε παραγωγή Saint Laurent. Χωρίς να κρίνει, απλώς παρατηρεί. Ένα έργο ωριμότητας και σπάνιας ισορροπίας, που του χάρισε τον Χρυσό Λέοντα στο Φεστιβάλ Βενετίας.

Το Father Mother Sister Brother είναι μια προσεκτικά δομημένη ταινία με τη μορφή τρίπτυχου. Και οι τρεις ιστορίες περιστρέφονται γύρω από τις σχέσεις ενηλίκων παιδιών με τους – κάπως απόμακρους – γονείς τους, αλλά και μεταξύ τους. Κάθε κεφάλαιο εκτυλίσσεται στο παρόν και σε διαφορετική περιοχή: Νιου Τζέρσεϊ, Δουβλίνο και Παρίσι. Μέσα από τις τρεις αυτές ιστορίες, ο Τζάρμους δημιουργεί ένα βαθιά ανθρώπινο και τρυφερό πορτρέτο της οικογένειας, εκεί όπου οι σιωπές μιλούν πιο δυνατά από τα λόγια.

Jim Jarmusch assembles an impressive cast (Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling) and tells three independent stories about the relationship between parents and children with his characteristic underground humor, produced by Saint Laurent. Without judging, he simply observes. A work of maturity and rare balance, which earned him the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

Father Mother Sister Brother is a carefully structured film in the form of a triptych. All three stories revolve around the relationships of adult children with their – somewhat distant – parents, but also with each other. Each chapter takes place in the present and in a different location: New Jersey, Dublin and Paris. Through these three stories, Jarmusch creates a deeply human and tender portrait of family, where silences speak louder than words.
