Description
From Oakland to the New York Times, and from the Conan stage to the pages of TIME Magazine, Sammy Obeid is landing in Athens for a one-of-a-kind night of nonstop laughter.
Lebanese-Palestinian-Syrian-Italian-American (he himself doesn’t even know) and born in Oakland, California, Sammy Obeid is best known for his unbelievable feat: 1,001 consecutive nights of stand-up comedy. The streak began on December 26, 2010, and ended on September 21, 2013 — just four days after his appearance on TBS’s Conan. Breaking the previous world record on day 731, Sammy raised the bar with his “1,001 Arabian Nights of Comedy.”
During this unprecedented run, he appeared on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, advancing to the Las Vegas round, and became the first comedian to ever perform on the Food Network, on Throwdown with Bobby Flay. LA Weekly praised his “sheer force of will” both on stage and off, while LA Mag highly recommended his shows. He was profiled in TIME Magazine, followed by a feature in the New York Times, which described his comedy as “full of wordplay” and “clever misdirection.”
His debut album, Get Funny or Die Trying, was selected by iTunes as one of the Best Comedy Albums of 2013. Sammy is also the founder of KO Comedy, and frequently shares unsolicited advice on his personal blog.
